Field Notes #1
Aquaculture is a critical part of the global food system—but it’s at a crossroads.
As demand for seafood grows, so does the pressure on wild fish stocks, fragile ecosystems, and the farmers working to feed a growing population. We believe there’s a better way—one that combines innovation with sustainability to build a more resilient future for our oceans and the people who depend on them.
At Biolyth, we’re working to develop genetic tools that help fish grow faster, use feed more efficiently, and thrive in changing environments. By exploring targeted gene overexpression in zebrafish, we’re laying the foundation for a new generation of high-performance broodstock—designed to support aquaculture operations without adding pressure to wild ecosystems.
Our vision is simple:
🌱 A future where fish farms produce more with fewer resources.
🌊 A seafood industry that protects ocean health and biodiversity.
🧬 Tools that help feed a growing world and preserve the ecosystems that sustain us.
We’re just getting started, but this is the mission that drives us every day.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
